From May 24th to September 30th, Bassano del Grappa will host "Ensemble 2026. Biennial Observatory on Emerging Painting in Italy", a project committed to monitoring and promoting new generations of active painters under the age of 40 across the country. Curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, the exhibition aims to highlight the vitality of contemporary art in Italy, from north to south. The exhibition features one hundred artists who focus on subjects such as painting, meta-painting, and its growth into installation, video art, and the performing arts, as well as the interplay between figuration and abstraction. Numerous experiments will be carried out, redefining established genres such as portrait, landscape, and still life, as well as appropriating imagery from a wide range of fields, including literature and dance, film, music videos, and digital animation. With this exhibition, Bassano del Grappa confirms its role as a leading city in contemporary artistic research.
