Considering only the primary vehicle expenses - from road tax to insurance, fuel, maintenance, and wear and tear - Italian households pay up to €4,486 to maintain their vehicle. This figure is based on an analysis conducted by Facile.it, a comparison, promotion, and brokerage site for insurance, financial products, electricity, gas, fiber optic rates, and long-term car rentals, in collaboration with Pratiche Auto Online, a company that provides simple, digital solutions for car paperwork. The investigation focused on three cities: Milan, Rome, and Naples. Spending varies substantially by city. Naples was discovered to be the most expensive city to maintain a car; in the Campania capital, typical spending ranged between €3,098 and €4,486, depending on the driver's characteristics. All other factors being equal, costs in Rome were between €2,532 and €3,694, while Milan was the most affordable city, with annual expenditures ranging between €2,329 and €3,404. The analysis considered three different driver profiles based on insurance class, age, mileage, and vehicle model. The cost items examined included road tax, fuel, wear and tear, maintenance, and the cost of a mandated vehicle inspection.
