To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Italian craft beer, Unionbirrai, the trade group of small, independent craft breweries, has launched a national effort called "Buona'sta Birra!" (This Beer Is Good!). It brings together brewers to create a collective beer, which is brewed simultaneously in several Italian areas. The first seven breweries in Italy opened in 1996: Baladin, Beba, Turbacci, Birrificio Italiano, Lambrate, Centrale della Birra, and Vecchio Birraio. The project involves dozens of breweries across the country, each of which is required to make the same beer from a common basis. A recognized recipe, but not rigid: each brewer can interpret it to their liking, adding distinctive nuances that represent style, experience, and location without compromising its character. The choice of style is no accident: it is an Italian Pilsner, a beer that now represents an effective combination of what customers want and what Italian brewers can convey. A simple, clean, and instant drink that is also high-quality, having been prepared with care and experience. A simple, yet not boring, beer. A "good" beer in the most literal and identifiable sense of the term.
