There is a thread connecting 1979 and 2026 that bears Giorgio Armani's unique mark. During Milan Design Week in April, the fashion house unveiled the second chapter of Armani/Archivio, reissuing 13 men's and women's designs from collections spanning 1979 to 1994. It is an ambitious project. Armani/Archivio, which debuted in 2025, already features over 5,500 archive styles and more than 30,200 distinct pieces. Today, this huge legacy is no longer just consultable, but also wearable. The collection revolves around the jacket, on which Armani based his own stylistic grammar, lightening traditional tailoring and making it a wearable, daily garment. The capsule collection begins with a look from the summer of 1979 and continues through the house's golden years until 1994, including a women's leather jacket inspired by samurai armor and a wide three-piece double-breasted suit from 1990. The original historic pieces are still kept in the house's archives; new reissues are now available for purchase, designed to bring the proportions and spirit of those years into the present. The pieces are available both online and in shops, and they are among the most sought for by vintage collectors. This project displays how, nearly fifty years after its debut, Armani's style retains all of its impact. In this situation, the past is not preserved, but rather worn.
