Maternity leave is still a major issue in the workplace, and the World Population Review's 2026 edition reveals considerable variances across countries. Italy ranks just fifteenth in Europe, with 22 weeks of paid leave at 80%, far below more liberal models such as Croatia and Montenegro, where leave lasts up to a year. The United States ranks last in the world in terms of unpaid leave, with only 12 weeks guaranteed at the federal level. However, a growing number of businesses are expanding their parental assistance programs. Among these is Zeta Service, which created the "Baby Pack", a benefits system that incorporates smart working, financial assistance, and more inclusive leave alternatives to help employees during maternity and paternity leave.
