Fendi, the Italian fashion brand, has announced that its next haute couture show will be held in Rome in July, bringing grand couture back to the Eternal City at a time when the capital is expanding its importance in the global fashion landscape. On May 8th and 9th, Rome hosted the second edition of "Forma 2026," an event that was organized by the Department of Major Events to enhance the city's reputation as a center of excellence in fashion and design education. Among the notable guests were Maria Grazia Chiuri, the creative director of Fendi, and Olivier Theyskens, the designer who has overseen businesses such as Rochas and Nina Ricci, as well as more than 25,000 students. On the market, industry insiders and experts have described a period of introspection: following years of great enthusiasm, Italian fashion is being questioned as to whether it should continue to expand or reevaluate its fundamentals, amid a crisis that is not only economic but also impacts creative direction.
