Traditional airlines continue to be the preferred mode of transportation for business travelers, but artificial intelligence is rapidly being integrated into corporate travel management systems. These are some of the key findings from "Beyond the Borders", the event dedicated to corporate mobility and business travel in Italy, which was organized in Milan by LabSumo, the laboratory on corporate mobility and business travel, with the participation of BT Lounge, the community that brings together travel managers from some of Italy's top companies. The event included the publication of a poll completed by the editorial staff of BusinessMobility.Travel on 116 travel managers from various sectors. The poll found that the most popular airlines in the business market are mostly established carriers. ITA Airways is the clear leader, named by 29% of respondents, followed by Lufthansa (20%). Low-cost carriers, particularly Ryanair and EasyJet, maintain a strong position, but Emirates is gaining momentum on long-haul routes, which are picked by 6% of the sample. International travel is dominated by large international corporations in the accommodation sector. Accor is the most popular brand (24%), followed by Marriott (17%) and Hilton (16%). For vacations within Italy, independent hotels (18%) and bed and breakfasts (12%) are popular choices. Booking methods are also becoming more automated: more than half of travel managers claim that a significant section of their organization's traveling population already uses self-booking tools provided by the Travel Management Company. Payment methods are also fast evolving, particularly since the implementation of mandated trip expense tracking. Currently, 52% of travel managers use corporate cards to organize travel.
