Plants, flowers, shrubs, and ornamental species: the European floriculture sector surpasses €24 billion, with Italy still a prominent player, ranking third after the Netherlands and Spain. The value of national production reached €3.2 billion in 2024, the greatest level in the previous decade. The productive fabric is made up of a large number of firms, with approximately 17,000 now operational. Tuscany leads the way among the regions, with a nursery industry revenue of more than €1 billion, while Liguria maintains its floriculture leadership. Along with these established areas, other regions, such as Sicily, are gaining strength, demonstrating a supply chain that can adapt to a variety of circumstances. Internationally, Italy is establishing itself as a net exporter, with a trade surplus of around €374 million. Exports reach €1.2 billion, indicating consistent growth, while imports rise, indicating a dynamic and highly interconnected market.
