A significant step forward in Leonardo da Vinci studies has been taken digitally. The Museo Galileo and the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana are continuing their relationship and launching Leonardo//thek@ 2.0, a platform that transforms access to Leonardo's manuscripts and virtually recreates their original unity. Leonardo//thek@ is an advanced digital library that uses sophisticated search capabilities to guide viewers through the artist's sketches, notes, and studies. The original edition allowed users to explore the Codex Atlanticus' almost 1,200 folios, which included transcriptions, critical apparatus, and links to other manuscripts. With version 2.0, however, the project takes a significant step forward: thanks to a collaboration with the Royal Collection Trust, the folios kept at the Royal Library of Windsor are now included in the platform. The new digital environment enables the first-ever combined consultation of two of Leonardo's most important collections of documents, which were separated at the end of the sixteenth century. Consultation is available for both individual and cross-referenced archives, with searches based on themes, chronologies, and graphic and textual parallels. Furthermore, the platform is constantly being updated with new scientific data and material analysis, making it into a true digital laboratory for scholars from across the world. Leonardo//thek@ 2.0 thus represents a watershed moment: not only does it provide global access to materials, but it also introduces a new method of reading and interpreting Leonardo's creative process, digitally mending what history had previously split.
