Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a meeting, Pope Leo once again emphasized the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The Pontiff also addressed the protests associated with the Flotilla, underscoring the fact that the Palestinian people are still not receiving adequate assistance. "It is imperative that we renew our call for the recognition of the human rights of all", the Pope declared. "Regrettably, the people of Gaza are still not receiving humanitarian aid, which is resulting in protests, difficulties, and even the actions of those who participated in the Flotilla". Pope Leo then reaffirmed his demand on the international community and the authorities involved to ensure that assistance is offered to the Strip's civilian population, which is becoming increasingly affected by the consequences of the Middle East conflict.
