In only a few months, the Medusa House has experienced a remarkable change. In December 2025, the Prada Group successfully acquired Versace for an estimated €1.3 billion, reintroducing the brand to Italy after years of ownership by the American group Capri Holdings. Now the creative chapter begins. Lorenzo Bertelli, Executive Chairman of Versace, announced the selection of Pieter Mulier as the new Chief Creative Officer: "As we considered the acquisition of Versace, we identified Pieter Mulier as the right person for the role of the brand's designer. We are certain that he will be able to fully realize Versace's potential and engage in a meaningful discussion with the brand's heritage and distinct look". Mulier will enter office on July 1, 2026, succeeding Dario Vitale, who left the house after only eight months and one collection. Mulier, a Belgian designer born in 1978 and Raf Simons' favorite student, joins Milan after serving as creative director at Alaïa since 2021. After more than thirty years at the forefront of the industry, Donatella Versace has resigned as creative director, but she continues to serve as the brand's global ambassador. In essence, the most iconic Medusa of Italian fashion is now firmly in Italian hands, with a Belgian designer trained at Raf Simons' school tasked with redesigning its future. His runway debut is keenly anticipated.
