Turin, long regarded as Italy’s capital of electronic music, will once again host the Club To Club Festival for its 25th edition, following the event’s sold-out New York showcase last year. Running from October 29 to November 1, the festival will take over several venues across the city, including the Lingotto complex and, for the first time in eleven years, the baroque Teatro Carignano. The return to Teatro Carignano carries particular significance for longtime fans. In 2010, the venue hosted one of the festival’s most celebrated performances, Kode9 Plays Burian, an event still remembered as a landmark moment in experimental electronic music. This year’s lineup features 22 artists spanning genres from pop and rap to avant-garde jazz, folk, R&B, and electronic experimentation. The festival once again embraces Turin’s reputation as a city suspended between innovation and mystery. Known in Italy for its esoteric traditions and occult symbolism, Turin famously inspired filmmaker Dario Argento, who chose it as the setting for much of his horror classic Deep Red despite the story being set in Rome. “It’s the place where my nightmares live,” the director once said of Italy’s first capital. Among the major international acts announced are Australian group The Avalanches, British electronic pop innovator Shygirl, Danish composer ML Buch, who blends psychedelic music with dream pop and art rock, and American experimental musician Wendy Eisenberg. The lineup also includes Elias Rønnenfelt of Iceage, the ambient duo Visible Cloaks, and emerging artist LIIM, whose music mixes hip-hop, soul, and alternative influences. Experimental projects such as Hundebiss with Bladblanc & Giesse, the panafrican collective Jokkoo’s NEXUS, and Caserta-born producer Talpah further reinforce the festival’s cutting-edge identity. The festival will also mark the return of major names such as Arca, Robyn, and Kelela, alongside the first-ever Italian performance by Swedish artists Yung Lean and Bladee together on stage.
