Concerto per Milano, the Filarmonica della Scala's yearly gift to the city, is in its thirteenth edition. This year, a significant new feature will be introduced: on Saturday, June 13, Piazza Duomo will be transformed into a vast open-air auditorium with 5,000 seats, that is free to the public. The stage will be moved to face the cathedral, creating an impressive background for the evening. Riccardo Chailly, Principal Conductor, will conduct the Filarmonica, as is usual. The event also features a special guest: Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino, better known as Cateen to his 2.2 million social media fans, is making his debut. At only thirty years old, he is already a global sensation and an ambassador for a fresh approach to classical music. The event combines the grand tradition of La Scala with Italy’s most symbolic square, open to everyone free of charge.
