The 2026 Cannes Film Festival provided immense delight to Italian producer Marco Perego, who won the Palme d'Or for Cristian Mungiu's Fjord and the Grand Jury Prize for Andrey Zvyagintsev's Minotaur—a double win that is unprecedented in the festival's history. Perego, born in Salò in 1979, exhibited four titles at the Croisette, including three in the official competition and one in the Directors' Fortnight. Never before has a producer won both the Palme d'Or and the Grand Prix simultaneously. Following the event, Perego stressed the importance of joint effort in achieving success, thanking the festival and its general delegate, Thierry Frémaux. He now returns to Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife, Oscar-winning actress Zoe Saldaña, carrying two of the Croisette’s most prestigious awards.
