Poste Italiane celebrates June 2nd with two new stamps that, through symbolic and emotive pictures, recall two watershed points in Italian history: the eightieth anniversary of the Republic's proclamation and the women's right to vote, which was introduced in 1946. The stamps will be officially available for purchase beginning June 3rd. The stamp commemorating the Republic's 80th anniversary contains a well-known photograph by Federico Patellani of a young woman emerging from the front page of a newspaper announcing the Republic's founding. This graphic depicts the atmosphere of that momentous day, accompanied by the legends "80 YEARS", "ITALIAN REPUBLIC", and "2 JUNE 1946", as well as the wording "ITALY" and the "B" rate. The second stamp, commemorating women's right to vote, shows a long line of individuals marching toward the ballot box, some holding miniature Italian flags. It's a vibrant image that captures the impact of a watershed moment: women were voting for the first time in the country's history. The phrases "VOTE FOR WOMEN", "2 JUNE", "ITALY," and the "B" rate also appear here. Both issues included the standard philatelic materials: a dedicated portfolio, a single stamp, a block of four, a franked and canceled postcard, a first-day cover, a card, and an illustrated bulletin—all of which are highly sought after by philatelic enthusiasts.
