Zeudi Araya, 75, died at home in Rome following a long illness. Her son, Michelangelo Spano, made the announcement on May 30, requesting privacy for the family and a completely private funeral. She was born on February 10, 1951, in Decamerè, Eritrea, and became one of the most recognized actresses in Italian erotic cinema throughout the 1970s, thanks to films like 'Moon Skin', 'Off-Road Girl', and 'The Body'. The daughter of a politician and granddaughter of an Ethiopian ambassador to Rome, she was crowned Miss Eritrea in 1969. A trip to Italy unexpectedly opened the doors of Cinecittà to her and launched her acting career. In 1983, she married film director Franco Cristaldi, a significant figure in Italian cinema who had directed films such as 'Divorce Italian Style', 'Salvatore Giuliano', and 'Amarcord'. Her career soon shifted to films produced by her husband, such as 'Mr. Robinson' with Paolo Villaggio and 'Giallo napoletano' with Marcello Mastroianni. In her most recent interview, Zeudi Araya lovingly remembered her summers with Monica Vitti, evenings with Alberto Sordi and Marcello Mastroianni, and even the sketches Federico Fellini used to give her.
