On June 2, the Libyan Prosecutor ordered the continued pre-trial detention of the two Italians who were detained in Libya and participated in the land flotilla until the next hearing. The Italian Consul General in Benghazi has issued a new formal request for a consular visit to the two Italians. The Farnesina, the Italian Embassy in Tripoli, and the Consulate General in Benghazi continue to monitor the matter in coordination with local authorities to ensure the citizen's return to Italy as soon as possible. On May 15th, the flotilla's land mission departed for Gaza with over 200 participants from over 25 countries, plus seven ambulances, 20 mobile homes, and ten vehicles of humanitarian aid. Nevertheless, the expedition was eventually redirected to Libya as a result of the violent expulsion of the convoy that had been encamped near Sirte, a short distance from the checkpoint. Meanwhile, a new complaint about the Flotilla case has been sent to the Rome Prosecutor's office. Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the June 2 celebrations, returned to the issue of the video in which Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir mocks Flotilla activists kneeling with their hands tied behind their backs. "We have asked for EU sanctions for that episode; we'll see what happens at the next Foreign Affairs Council. We will continue to push in this direction", Tajani said.
