In 2024, revenue from Italy’s recreational boating industry reached a historic high of €8.6 billion, an increase of 3.2%. Italy remains the world's biggest shipbuilding exporter, with exports reaching a new all-time high in 2025, up 2.6% to about €4.4 billion, representing roughly 90% of domestic output. In the superyacht sector, the country's leadership is even more pronounced: according to the Global Order Book 2026, Italian shipyards currently have 568 superyachts under construction, accounting for 52% of global orders. The Italian industry generates 36% of global value and 56% of global orders in the superyacht segment. The sector's influence on the actual economy is substantial: in 2024, it generated over €13 billion in added value and employed nearly 168,000 individuals, resulting in a 5.6% increase in employment.
