The first Italian triumph of the 2026 Roland Garros has arrived. Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori defended their mixed doubles title on the red clay of Court Philippe-Chatrier, Paris' center court. The Italian duo emerged victorious in the final, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the deciding super tie-break after one hour and 19 minutes of play, defeating Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and American Evan King. Sara Errani described the significance of her victory at the awards ceremony: "I continue to live this unending dream; it is extraordinary. This court is great; I've made all of my goals come true here. Andrea, you're my best friend, sharing all this with you is incredible. Playing with you is so beautiful, so enjoyable, and you're so strong". She then turned her attention to the Italian tennis community and the audience: "Thanks also to our teams and families who are here; without you, none of this would be possible. Every day, both here and at home, we have received tremendous support from Italians. Italy is currently obsessed with tennis, and we are thrilled to be a part of it all thanks to your support. I hope to see you next year". Vavassori reiterated her views, underlining the importance of their common journey: "Thank you, Sara. You're my best friend, and the first person I want to talk to if I lose a match. I am grateful to be able to share this journey with you; I do not take it for granted. Every day is an incredible journey. Thank you also to our entire team and everyone who came to support us today; the atmosphere was fantastic. The wind made things difficult, so we did our best, but it wasn't easy. I'd also like to thank all of the fans that followed us from Italy". For Errani, this is another step in an already successful career at the Majors, with titles in both women's doubles and mixed doubles. The Errani-Vavassori victory in Paris caps a two-season winning streak that includes two consecutive Roland Garros crowns and back-to-back US Open wins, reaffirming their status as one of the most consistent mixed doubles combinations on the tour.
