The new regulations regarding salary transparency, which are outlined in the legislative decree that implements the European Directive on Equal Pay, are becoming effective. The objective is to bolster the principle of equal pay for equal labor, irrespective of gender. Among the most significant changes, job applicants will no longer be asked about their wages from previous professional experiences. Workers will also be able to seek information on the typical wage levels of people performing equivalent tasks, split down by gender. Companies with at least 100 employees are also obligated to monitor and disclose pay disparities. If an unreasonable disparity of 5% or more is identified and not resolved within six months, specific verification and intervention procedures may be implemented in collaboration with unions and competent agencies.
