The fourth edition of the research "Collectors and the Value of Art in Italy 2026", one of the most authoritative observatories in the industry, has been released. The picture that emerges is of a world in fundamental transition. Globally, during 2025, particularly in the second half of the year, art turnover rebounded after a period of contraction, increasing by 4% compared to 2024. Amid geopolitical tensions and financial uncertainty, international collectors have sought refuge in established and historicized works, avoiding speculation and focusing on the undeniable quality of the objects. The Italian collector's profile is becoming more demanding: 30% of collectors have spent more than €500,000 on a single work, and 8% have spent more than €1 million on a single acquisition. The interest in design, books, jewelry, watches, antiques, fashion, and accessories is also increasing. The most intriguing development, however, pertains to so-called emergent collectibles. Vintage automobiles and motorcycles, as well as vintage fashion and accessories, are among the areas generating the most interest from collectors. Another significant chapter focuses on historic homes, examining their dual roles as collection custodians and cultural hubs entrenched in their communities. This is a thriving, ever-changing sector that has strong roots in Italy, with its rich past and history.
