Airidea inaugurated its flight operations on June 8 with the Genoa–Trieste route. Airidea is a new regional airline that has chosen Genoa as its operating hub, with the goal of promoting short-haul flights using small aircraft. It operates BAe Jetstream 32 aircraft, which are 18-seat turboprops excellent for regional connectivity of up to 2,000 kilometres. The departure network is already extensive: flights connect Trieste, Venice, Bologna, Bergamo, Florence, Olbia, Alghero, and Perugia, with a season that runs until October 24, 2026. On Mondays and Fridays, the Genoa-Trieste route is served twice a day, taking one hour and twenty minutes instead of five or six hours by car. The initiative is designed to address a historical gap by providing frequent and accessible shuttle flights to underserved regional areas. After consolidating its Ligurian base, Airidea intends to open at least two additional hubs in central and southern Italy, resulting in a large, interconnected network. It is a model inspired by American regional aviation, one that has been largely absent from the Italian market.
