From June 16 to 19, Rimini will host the renowned Velo-city conference, also known as the world cycling summit. The city was chosen by the European Cyclists’ Federation, which rewarded Rimini’s commitment to sustainable mobility. Rimini has obtained the maximum score of 5 Bike Smiles from FIAB, the Italian Federation for the Environment and Cycling, which assesses and certifies Italian regions' commitment to encouraging cycling for the fourth year running. The event occurs at a time of growth for cycling in Italy, but also of concern: 222 cyclists died on Italian roads in 2025, with Lombardy having the highest number of fatalities—a figure that reignites the debate on road safety and the need to accelerate cities' transition to more sustainable mobility models.
