The Pala Dean Martin in Montesilvano, Pescara, will host the 2026 Junior World Chess Championships from June 14 to 27. Competition will take place in the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 age groups, as well as the Open and Women's categories. The event will attract more than 3,500 individuals to the city. The Italian national team will also attend: in addition to the official delegation of six players, many other Italians will register as "extraplayers", taking advantage of the opportunity to compete on their home territory. Montesilvano's devotion to staging such large-scale chess competitions has made the Abruzzo town a popular destination for chess enthusiasts in Italy.
