A new shakeup took place in Juventus' management. According to Sportmediaset, the club, which is owned by the Agnelli-Elkann family holding business, has opted to end its partnership with CEO Damien Comolli. The decision was apparently reached during an internal meeting yesterday; an official announcement has yet to be issued. Comolli, a French businessman with vast international experience and a past at teams including Tottenham, Liverpool, and Toulouse, joined Juventus approximately a year ago as part of a larger managerial revamp. Initially named general manager, he later became CEO as well. The decision is claimed to have been spurred by ownership issues, led by John Elkann, the Stellantis automobile group's principal shareholder and a key figure in the Juventus universe. In particular, the management of the most recent transfer market, which was reportedly characterized by an extensively data-driven approach and the usage of sophisticated statistical models for player selection, was described as unconvincing. Recently added players include Jonathan David, João Mário, Loïs Openda, Edon Zhegrova, Emil Holm, and Jérémie Boga. However, none of them have yet established themselves as major players on the team. Additionally, the club has encountered challenges in renewing the contract of Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović, as well as in several negotiations that the club regards as critical, such as those for goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Randal Kolo Muani. The relationship between Comolli and Luciano Spalletti has also been reported to be less than cordial, which has served to exacerbate internal tensions. The most widely mentioned candidate to succeed the French manager is Giovanni Carnevali, the current CEO and general manager of Sassuolo. Carnevali is regarded as one of the architects of the Emilian club's expansion, a relatively small club that has managed to solidify its status in Italy's top tier in recent years. Sassuolo has spent eleven seasons in Italy's top level, with the exception of relegation in 2023-24, which was quickly followed by their return to Serie A. One of the most notable achievements in their history was qualification for the Europa League in the 2015-16 season, courtesy to an unexpected sixth-place finish in the league.
