Being a coach is always a difficult job, but Carlo Ancelotti and Vincenzo Montella are finding it even more difficult when they coach national teams with huge expectations. In Brazil, Ancelotti's less-than-convincing start against Morocco has ignited controversy about his new direction. However, prominent Brazilian analyst Paulo Vinicius Coelho believes it is too early to make decisive judgments. "Brazil claims to always play the Brazilian way", he observes, "but Ancelotti has had little time to get to know the team, and one match alone isn't enough to evaluate their work". Coelho himself points out that great world cup victories don't often start well. Vincenzo Montella's condition is considerably more delicate. The 2-0 setback to Australia in his first encounter has sparked widespread criticism in Turkey, with the press and fans questioning both his tactical decisions and the management of several players returning from injury. According to journalist Galip Ercan, many people believe the coach has little authority in making critical decisions. The former Roma coach's future is uncertain: to maintain his job, he must guide Turkey to the round of 16. Meanwhile, his name remains associated to Fenerbahçe, which might provide a new possibility.
