A significant breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation of a WhatsApp conversation in which employees of ATM, Milan's public transport company, exchanged photos of female passengers stolen from public transport surveillance cameras, accompanied by sexist comments. The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an inquiry against at least one person for unauthorized access to a computer system. Local police have already started conducting targeted searches. Meanwhile, ATM has taken stern actions, suspending all affected personnel from service and pay. The situation erupted after a passenger submitted a complaint on social media; the company acted quickly, filing a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office and initiating an internal inquiry to investigate the illegal use of company security cameras and protect passengers. Milan's Mayor, Giuseppe Sala, also spoke out on the issue, urging maximal commitment: "ATM must shine light on the situation and take action. If the perpetrators are identified, they must be prevented from causing additional harm".
