Cristiana Brandolini d’Adda (née Agnelli) has passed away at the age of 99. She was the last surviving member of a dynasty that profoundly shaped 20th-century Italy, navigating high industry, aristocracy, and deep family tragedies with innate elegance. Born in Turin on February 16, 1927, she was the daughter of Edoardo Agnelli - who died tragically in a plane crash when she was still a child - and Virginia Bourbon del Monte. Sister to Gianni, Umberto, Giorgio, Clara, Susanna, and Maria Sole, she married Count Brandolino Brandolini d’Adda in Rome in 1947, with whom she had four children.
Despite belonging to the international elite by birth and marriage, Cristiana always chose a path of privacy and discretion, dividing her time between Venice, Paris, Geneva, and the Vistorta estate in Friuli. A true style icon, she was inducted into the International Best Dressed List in 1973 as an "outstanding example of elegance without ostentation," and later entered the fashion Hall of Fame. Her passing marks the end of a historic era that uniquely bridged the Fiat empire of Turin with Venetian society and Italy's oldest noble families.
