Former Belgian international Radja Nainggolan is facing a new traffic-related judicial action. After an incident in city traffic, the police in Antwerp apprehended the former midfielder of Cagliari, Roma, and Inter, resulting in the immediate impoundment of his vehicle. According to local authorities, the player ran a red light at an intersection, causing him to pass a police car a short distance away. The investigation into the violation resulted in routine inspections, during which police confirmed Nainggolan's suspended license. In Belgium, reinstating a license may include completing a procedure that involves physical and psychological exams, as well as possible theory or practical tests. It was discovered that the former international had not yet taken the appropriate steps to formally reclaim his driver's license. Officers also took a breathalyzer test, which had negative results. Despite this, the automobile was impounded, and the player must appear in court again to account for the claimed offense. However, the player's defense presented a reason for why he drove despite the prohibition. According to lawyer Omar Souidi, Nainggolan intervened after receiving a phone call from his daughter, who was extremely concerned and wanted to be transported to the hospital. According to the lawyer, the player felt the situation demanded quick attention and drove to her. For Nainggolan, who has spent the most of his career in Italy, becoming one of Serie A's most recognizable midfielders, the event could result in additional sanctions and an increase of the time required to legally regain his license.
