One year after Jannik Sinner became the first Italian player to win the Wimbledon men's singles title, Italy returns to the All England Club aiming to extend its golden era in tennis.
Seven Italian men are competing in this year's singles draw. While that falls short of the record 11 players who entered the tournament in 2025, the country's presence remains among the strongest in its history.
Italian tennis has enjoyed unprecedented success in recent years. The national record for match victories in a single Wimbledon edition was set in 2025 with 18 wins, surpassing the previous highs of 15 in 2024 and 13 in 2021.
Overall, Italian players have recorded 301 victories and 355 defeats in the men's singles event. The country has reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals on 12 occasions, with most of those achievements coming in recent years. Matteo Berrettini reached the final in 2021, Lorenzo Musetti made the semi-finals in 2024, Flavio Cobolli reached the quarter-finals in 2025, while Sinner progressed from the quarter-finals in 2022 and 2024 to the semi-finals in 2023 before lifting the trophy in 2025.
Italy's all-time Wimbledon leader remains tennis legend Nicola Pietrangeli with 29 career match wins, although Sinner is closing in with 20 victories.
