An $18 million masterpiece has vanished, and Rita Rusic, an actress and producer, is facing serious charges. "The Wine of Babylon", a famous artwork painted by rebellious artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the 1980s, is at the heart of the mystery. The Prosecutor's Office served Rusic with a notice of investigation closure, charging her with attempted extortion, self-laundering, and deliberate failure to comply with a court order. However, the investigating judge rejected the prosecution's request to place her under house arrest. The controversy began in 2010, when Rusic's ex-husband, Vittorio Cecchi Gori, sold the painting to lawyer Giovanni Nappi in exchange for professional services. Since then, Nappi has never been able to reclaim ownership of the piece. According to the prosecution, the actress allegedly exerted every effort to prevent the transfer of the item, initially requesting 75% of the proceeds from a future sale and subsequently requesting €4 million in compensation to facilitate the transaction. But where is the painting now? In 2018, Rusic offered geographic longitude and latitude coordinates, which proved to be ineffective. In 2020, police officers and a court bailiff searched the home of her sister, Lierka, but found no trace of the painting. As Nappi continues his search, the mystery surrounding "Wine of Babylon" remains unsolved.
