The number of orange flags in Italy has risen to 308. Six new interior villages have received the Italian Touring Club's tourist and environmental quality seal: Cagli in the Marche region, Montefusco in Campania, Papasidero in Calabria, Sassetta in Tuscany, Stenico in Trentino, and Vastogirardi in Molise. The new certifications are part of the Italian Touring Club's Summer in the Villages 2026 campaign, which focuses on discovering small interior villages. It's an invitation to go off the beaten path through events, itineraries, outdoor experiences, gastronomic traditions, and interactions with local people that preserve and improve Italy's lesser-known regions. Six distinct places, each with its own history, terrain, and personality, share a commitment to hospitality, cultural and environmental legacy, and the ability to provide tourists with authentic, sustainable, and locally rooted experiences. The new Orange Flags highlight the richness of Italy's inland areas: places that are frequently far from the most popular tourist routes but may nonetheless provide a meaningful travel experience, consisting of landscapes, cultural heritage, welcoming populations, and still-living traditions.
