The recent tensions between Rome and Washington have been resolved. During the 250th anniversary celebrations of American Independence at Villa Taverna, US Ambassador Tilman J. Fertitta and Italian government officials reaffirmed the transatlantic alliance, describing current relations as among the finest ever. Ambassador Fertitta dismissed the recent tensions between Giorgia Meloni and Donald Trump, describing a long-standing partnership and everyday collaboration on defense, politics, and commerce that is proceeding routinely and without incident. The strength of the relationship was also confirmed by the Italian deputy prime ministers. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani highlighted that the partnership is based on frank dialogue and a shared sense of Western belonging, rather than polemics or personal ties. Matteo Salvini emphasized the importance of freedom and democracy as non-negotiable values for both countries.
