Italy had a particularly successful day at Wimbledon, with Flavio Cobolli and Jasmine Paolini reaching the quarterfinals in their respective draws. In the men's competition, Cobolli, the world number ten seed, upset Australian Alex de Minaur, known for his rapid movements and good defense. The Italian triumphed in three sets, 7-5, 7-6(4), 6-3. With this win, Cobolli advances to the quarterfinals, where he will face the winner of the match between Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, a former top ten player with extensive international experience, and British Jacob Fery, a young up-and-coming talent cheered by the local audience. After the match, Cobolli commented on his triumph, underlining the fatigue imposed by this year's unusually hot weather: "I'm pleased to have won in three sets. I was feeling tired and it was important to save energy for the next round. It's been very hot this year, so thank you all for coming. I'm happy and proud of myself". The Italian tennis star then acknowledged his opponent's value: "We have a lot of respect for each other. I admire him as a person and a player, even if it's never easy to play against him". In the women's draw, Jasmine Paolini, Wimbledon runner-up in 2024 and now firmly established among the leading players on the WTA Tour, continued her impressive run on the London grass by defeating the Philippines' Alexandra Eala 6–4, 4–6, 6–3 in the fourth round. Eala surprised the tournament by defeating Iga Świątek, a former world number one and multiple Grand Slam champion, resulting in one of the most noteworthy events this year. Paolini will now compete against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk for a spot in the semifinals.
