For the first time, a woman leads the list of mayors and governors in Il Sole 24 Ore's Governance Poll, an annual survey conducted by the business daily to assess mayors' and governors' approval ratings. Sara Funaro, Mayor of Florence, has been named Italy's most popular mayor, with an approval rating of 66%. In second place is Marco Fioravanti, the mayor of Ascoli Piceno, who has a 65% approval rating, a decrease of approximately nine percentage points from the previous poll and the lead he had attained. Gaetano Manfredi, who is beloved among 64% of Neapolitans, wins bronze. Giuseppe Sala, mayor of Milan, and Clemente Mastella, mayor of Benevento, are tied for tenth place with 59.5% each. With an approval rating of 55%, up 3.5 percentage points on her election result, Silvia Salis, Mayor of Genoa, ranks 33rd, level with Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin. Roberto Gualtieri is in 41st place, with 54% approval ratings among Roman citizens, despite a 6.2-point reduction in election statistics, a major improvement from the previous year's ranking, when he plummeted to 47%. Turning to the regional governors, the top position goes to Antonio Decaro, President of the Apulia Region, with an approval rating of 66% (he has held the top spot six times in his ten years as mayor of Bari). Members of the Lega political party dominate the rest of the podium, with Veneto governor Alberto Stefani at 65% and Friuli Venezia Giulia governor Massimiliano Fedriga at 64%.
