On Saturday, July 11, around 200 socially vulnerable individuals from the Diocese of Rome will take part in the "Lunch with the Pope" event. The effort, which includes a day of welcome and unity, will take place in Borgo Laudato Si', located in the Pontifical Gardens of Castel Gandolfo. The day's program will provide guests with an opportunity for profound sharing, which will foster both spirituality and social engagement. The event will begin with a Eucharistic celebration accompanied by the Liturgy of the Custody of Creation, followed by a welcome and refreshment session, a guided tour to discover the beauty of the Borgo, and, finally, a lunch shared with Pope Leo XIV. The event stems from the experience of 17 August 2025, when the Pontiff had lunch with poor people from the Diocese of Albano. Since then, the Laudato Si' Center for Advanced Training has made the event a yearly tradition, with each year including a different diocese, providing refugees, migrants, and people in need with a day immersed in nature and the opportunity to meet the Holy Father. The Center for Advanced Training, the Dicastery for the Service of Charity, and the Diocese of Rome have worked closely together to produce this year's edition.
