Jannik Sinner has continued his triumphant march at Wimbledon, reaching the semifinals of the prestigious London tournament for the third time in his career and his tenth total at the Grand Slam level. The Italian tennis player, presently ranked first in the ATP rankings and defending champion, defeated German Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarterfinals following a solid and controlled encounter that ended in three sets with scores of 7-5, 7-6, and 6-3 after two hours and thirty-four minutes of play. The match took place on a hot British day and was marked by a tight service game. Sinner had a fantastic serve performance, blasting 16 aces. The first set was deadlocked at 5-5 when the South Tyrolean raised the bar on the return, securing the deciding break. The second set was even more tense: Struff missed a set point at 6-5, but Sinner maintained his composure and forced his opponent to a tiebreak, which he won 7 points to 4. This psychological setback broke the German's final resistance, and he was ultimately defeated in the third set by the relaxed Sinner. "It was very tough. Struff is a difficult player to play against", the Italian commented immediately after the match, referring to his physical recovery after Roland Garros. "We worked hard after Paris to understand what had happened, and today I felt comfortable". Sinner will now face Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals after the Serbian defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in five sets.
