The "Back to Back" is a reality: Jannik Sinner defeats Alexander Zverev 3-1 (6-7, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4) after a three-hour and forty-eight minute match. This is the world number one's fifth Grand Slam triumph, and his second in a row on the All England Club courts. The match unfolded as a monumental serving contest. In the opening set, neither player gave an inch, and the outcome was decided in a tie-break. At 7–7, Sinner made a costly error, allowing Zverev to take the set. The second set followed a similar pattern, but the roles were reversed: Jannik found the right countermeasures on the return, dominated the tie-break 7-2, and returned the match to parity. The decisive turning point occurred in the third set. At 3–3, Sinner brilliantly saved a dangerous break point. In the following game, the Italian secured the first break of the match, moved ahead 5–3 and closed out the set 6–3. The fourth set proved almost a mirror image of the third. Zverev fought tenaciously, but at 3–3 he was broken once again. Sinner held his nerve and sealed the championship with a 6–4 victory. "Winning again is incredible", Sinner exclaimed, deeply moved during the awards ceremony. Jannik expressed his gratitude to his team, his mother ("she left the court a couple of times because of the tension"), and the ball boys, stating, "It was a beautiful final, we gave everything. I'm dedicating my life to this sport, and I didn't think I could win here again". He then turned his attention to his rival, Sascha, stating, "Sascha has already won in Paris this year, I'm sure he'll win Wimbledon too. He's very close to becoming world number one, we'll have to be very careful". The typical sporting spectacle was not devoid of the words of a defeated Zverev, who commented half-seriously, half-ironically: "First of all, Jannik: I don't like you anymore. You're the best in the world, and you've proven it." Nevertheless, the German expressed great confidence in the future: "At 29, after these two wonderful months, I now believe: I can win this tournament. Unfortunately for me, Sinner will also be returning here. It was a huge honor to play on Centre Court in front of the Royal Box".
