The composition of the international juries for Orizzonti and Venezia Opera Prima “Luigi De Laurentiis” at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival has been revealed. The festival, directed by Alberto Barbera, will take place from September 2 to 12. The Orizzonti jury, chaired by French director, actress and screenwriter Valérie Donzelli, will include American distributor Peter Becker — president of Criterion Collection and Janus Films — Hong Kong-American director Elizabeth Lo, a representative of contemporary independent cinema, Mexican director and screenwriter David Pablos, and Italian actress Barbara Ronchi. Meanwhile, filmmaker and screenwriter Carolina Cavalli will chair the Venice Film Festival's "Venice Opera Prima" juries, which will also include British-Nigerian director Akinola Davies Jr. and Ted Hope, the US producer who brought Amazon into the cinematic universe. The announcement highlights how the Lido and the United States are becoming increasingly closer every year.
