The Department for Digital Transformation has announced €712.5 million in funding to support the development of high-speed fixed network infrastructure across Italy. This investment enhances the Ultra-Broadband Plan, a key component of the country's digital strategy, with the goal of closing the connectivity gap that still affects many internal and peripheral locations. The legislation comes at a good time for Italy's digital agenda: a few days ago, Undersecretary Alessio Butti underscored Europe's recognition of Italy's achievements owing to NRRP investments and a clear innovation policy. Also, in early July, the first version of SINFI Lite, an infrastructure registry platform that combines geolocation, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, was released, proving the country's overall acceleration in digitalization.
