Until a few years ago, the majority of Italians enjoyed their summer vacations in August; now, one in every two will leave this year in July or September. The average vacation will last 11 days, and more than one in every two vacationers will travel by car to their final destination. These are some of the results of a poll commissioned by the research institute EMG by Facile.it, a company that compares, promotes, and brokers insurance, financial products, electricity, gas, fiber optics, and long-term automobile rentals. In total, approximately 16 million people will take a trip in July and/or September, with slightly more than 4.1 million having already taken their summer vacation in June. The survey also investigated the average amount of money that Italians will spend on holidays in 2026, which is 939 euros per individual, when only transportation and lodging are taken into account.
