The timeless charm of the Colosseum comes alive after sunset: the special evening openings are returning, offering a unique opportunity to discover one of Rome's most iconic monuments immersed in the atmosphere of the night. The Colosseum Archaeological Park is repeating its "A Night at the Colosseum" program for 2026, which includes a series of nightly guided excursions that allow you to explore the monument away from the daytime crowds, in an ambiance that enhances the allure of ancient history. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (last admission at 9:50 PM), residents and tourists can take a one-hour guided tour led by specialized staff that delves deeper into the history, architecture, and curiosities of the world's most famous amphitheater. The tour begins at the North Fornix, the emperor's old entrance, and continues along the monument's first tier, eventually reaching the arena floor, which provides a privileged view of the cavea. The tour continues into the fascinating underground tunnels, the hidden heart of the Colosseum, where you can view the permanent exhibition "Shows in the Colosseum Arena. The protagonists". The tour also provides the opportunity to retrace the history of the significant events that enlivened the arena in ancient Rome, including the spectacular venationes, the hunts with exotic animals, and the famous munera, the gladiatorial combats. An evening voyage through history that reintroduces to the audience one of the capital's icons in a new and particularly emotional form.
