Italy continues to prove itself to be a historical treasure trove, as demonstrated by the discovery made in Gragnano, near Naples, where the results of the archaeological research were presented. During expansion work on the Garofalo pasta factory, a necropolis was discovered, revealing new pieces of the story of pre-Roman Campania, specifically the ancient Ager Stabianus. The archaeological investigations, which were conducted by Geomed S.r.l. under the scientific direction of the ABAP Superintendency for the Metropolitan Area of Naples, revealed remarkably well-preserved funerary objects. These findings indicate that ancient Gragnano was a critical hub for trade routes between the Eastern Mediterranean, Egypt, and Greece during the first half of the 6th century BC. Egyptian amulets, zoomorphic ambers, Etruscan bronzes, and a terracotta unguent bottle shaped like a mermaid dated from 580 to 550 BC have all been uncovered.
