Cortona On The Move, now in its sixteenth year, is one of Europe's most esteemed international contemporary photography festivals. From July 16th to November 1st, 2026, the medieval village of Cortona in Tuscany will be turned into a global photographic hub, tucked between its ancient center and the enormous expanses of the Fortezza del Girifalco. The 2026 edition, under Renata Ferri's artistic direction, is titled "Beautiful Country": a visual investigation of Italy in recent decades, an open atlas in which photography becomes a tool for critical and poetic exploration of the relationship between image, memory, and identity. The program includes 33 shows by Italian and international photographers, such as Joel Sternfeld and Candida Höfer, as well as new commissions, archival initiatives, and rising artists. The festival also serves as a stimulating forum for meetings, presentations, seminars, and portfolio evaluations, attracting photographers, curators, and aficionados from all over the world. A one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore contemporary Italy via the lens of excellent photography in one of Tuscany's most picturesque villages.
