In 2026, Michelin Italy celebrates an unprecedented milestone: 120 years of presence in the Italian peninsula. Throughout this journey, the Michelin Guide's restaurants—which were initially published in 1956—have consistently served as distinctive representatives of Italian culinary culture, able to convey the region's essence through innovation, technique, creativity, and reverence for its cultural origins. To commemorate this occasion, "L'Italia nel Piatto" (Italy on a Plate) was established, a project that honors Italian cuisine by allowing chefs to reinvent tradition. The program invites Michelin-starred and Bib Gourmand restaurants from the 2026 Michelin Guide Italy to make and share a traditional Italian meal reimagined in their own style and mostly prepared with Italian ingredients. The "L'Italia nel Piatto" project is a recipe book that includes over 200 dishes from the participating chefs, as well as images, ingredients, and preparation instructions. The collection will be released in two stages: the first 120 recipes became available on 15 July, while the remaining recipes will be published and made available for free download on the Michelin Guide website on 27 August.
