With peak summer travel congested at Italy's airports, baggage management and security remain among the most pressing issues affecting air travel in Italy. According to an EMG survey conducted for the comparison portal Facile.it, almost 2.8 million passengers passing through Italian airports had their baggage stolen or misplaced in the past year. Specifically, the airline permanently lost over 1.9 million passengers' bags, while 786,000 experienced delivery delays and nearly 168,000 had their bags stolen at the airports. This phenomenon reflects the operational complexity of national hubs during peak tourist seasons, prompting an increasing number of Italians to take precautions: more than one-third of travelers now supplement their traditional travel insurance with specific coverage to protect their equipment from unexpected logistical issues.
