"We are entering a new chapter in our history". This is the first sentence of a letter to staff from Matteo Del Fante and Giuseppe Lasco, CEO and General Manager of Poste Italiane, respectively, on the public tender offer for TIM. "The acceptance period begins and, unless extended, ends on September 11th. Poste Italiane is beginning to acquire TIM shares on the market, bringing to life one of the most significant economic and industrial projects of recent years for our sector, for telecommunications and for the Italian economy as a whole", the letter states. "The goal of this operation is to create the country's largest connected infrastructure platform: a strategic group that leads in financial and insurance services, logistics, telecommunications, and digital services, combining two of Italy's most important industrial players", the Poste executives say. "The offer includes both a cash and a share component. For each TIM share tendered to the offer, Poste Italiane will pay TIM shareholders €1.67 in cash plus 0.218 newly issued Poste Italiane ordinary shares. The value of this transaction extends beyond these figures, as it is reinforced by our shareholder pay strategy, which has progressively increased over the years as a result of consistently improving financial performance. This represents an opportunity that could also translate into tangible benefits for TIM shareholders who, by accepting the offer and becoming Poste Italiane shareholders, will once again receive dividends", they concluded.
