Claudio Baglioni has chosen his hometown of Rome for two landmark performances that will frame his farewell to the stage. Following his recovery from pneumonia, which forced him to postpone the tour originally scheduled for this summer, the singer-songwriter will return to live performance on 24 October with a concert at Piazza di Siena, in the heart of Villa Borghese. The venue holds special significance, having hosted two of his most memorable concerts in 1982 and 2009. The event, titled "Che notte è questa!", will serve as a special preview of Baglioni's farewell tour, which was initially due to begin this year but will now officially start on 28 June 2027 in Piazza San Marco, Venice. The tour will comprise 50 concerts before concluding with a final performance in Rome. That closing event will take place on 23 October 2027 along Via dei Fori Imperiali, beneath the shadow of the Colosseum and within one of the world's most celebrated archaeological settings, exactly one year after the Piazza di Siena concert. The location is another familiar stage for Baglioni. He performed there in 1996 at a free concert organised in his role as a FAO Ambassador for the United Nations during World Food Day celebrations, before returning for another performance in 2010. "During my enforced break I feared I might never return to the stage," the 75-year-old Roman singer said. "Today, with great joy and enthusiasm, I can say that the journey continues, with an exceptional opening and closing chapter in the city where I was born and where I have spent – and continue to spend – so much of my life". Baglioni has now recovered from the severe interstitial pneumonia that required a lengthy convalescence, and the countdown to the final chapter of his extraordinary career can officially begin.
