Sardinia aspires to be a premier Mediterranean hub for yachting, shipbuilding, and the Blue Economy. This sector represents a substantial prospect for economic and employment growth on the island, but it largely necessitates investment in professional skills. The data already show a robust sector: in the region, the Blue Economy generates an estimated €2.4 billion, accounting for nearly 8% of the regional GDP, and employs over 30,000 people in the supply chain. Recreational boating is one of the most important segments, with over 18,000 berths, a high concentration of activity in Gallura, and a supply chain that includes over 1,600 companies. This potential is part of a rapidly expanding sector: according to the European Interreg BE-STREAM POWER project, the maritime economy generates more than $1.5 trillion per year globally, with growth expected to range between 5 and 7%. The primary challenge for Sardinia in capitalizing on this growth, however, remains the training of new specialized professionals.
