Italy continued their impressive Women's Volleyball Nations League campaign by securing a place in the semi-finals with a commanding 3-0 victory over the Netherlands (25-21, 25-19, 25-16) in the Finals currently taking place in Macau. Julio Velasco's side will now take on Brazil, who booked their place in the last four by defeating Japan. The reigning champions, having lifted the trophy in both 2024 and 2025, once again demonstrated their outstanding form, controlling the match from the opening exchanges. Opposite hitter Kate Antropova led the attack with another outstanding display, while captain Anna Danesi anchored the team with crucial blocks and composed leadership during the key moments of the match. Setter Alessia Orro also played a pivotal role, distributing the ball with precision and consistently unsettling the Dutch defence. The opening set proved to be the most competitive. After making the stronger start, Italy saw the Netherlands narrow the gap, but Velasco's team quickly regained control thanks to their superior attacking efficiency and an imposing block, closing the set 25-21. The gap between the two sides became even more apparent in the second set. Italy established an early lead and dominated every aspect of the game, comfortably absorbing the Dutch comeback attempt. Even the substitutions, including the introduction of Paola Egonu during the set, allowed the Azzurre to maintain their intensity through to a 25-19 win. The Netherlands attempted to revive the contest in the third set, relying largely on the attacking efforts of Marlieke Dambrink, but Italy never relinquished control. Antropova, Danesi, Myriam Sylla and Sarah Fahr continued to lead the way as the Italians pulled clear in the closing stages before sealing a 25-16 victory in just over an hour. The result sends Italy into a semi-final against Brazil and keeps alive their hopes of winning a third consecutive Women's Volleyball Nations League title.
